The April Fools’ episode of our never-ending series is full of fun! This special update is designed to bring a light-hearted twist to the game while also addressing some critical gameplay elements. First, we made a series of adjustments to the damage output of several support champions, enhancing their ability to contribute in team fights while ensuring they remain balanced within their roles. Alongside these adjustments, we also focused on fixing some annoying bugs related to Senna and various support items. These fixes were essential to maintain a smooth gaming experience for all players, as we know how frustrating it can be when bugs disrupt gameplay. In our ongoing efforts to improve the solo queue experience, we took a closer look at Volibear, a champion that has been causing quite a stir in the ranks. After careful consideration and analysis, we decided to tame this solo queue scourge, making adjustments to his abilities to ensure he remains a formidable yet fair opponent. Meanwhile, we slightly buffed jungle Olaf to enhance his viability, allowing him to thrive in his role without overshadowing other champions in the jungle. Additionally, we made a significant change by banning Rell from the jungle.  This decision was based on community feedback and our observations of her gameplay.

By restricting her to other roles, we hope to create a more balanced environment in the jungle. On the other hand, we’re excited to announce that Sylas is now allowed to enter the jungle! We recognize that some players enjoy the unique playstyle of chaining monsters, and we wanted to embrace that creativity. By allowing Sylas into the jungle, we open up new strategic possibilities for players who favor his skill set. Finally, we turned our attention to Galio, a champion who has been a bit underwhelming in melee combat. To address this, we implemented a few additional tweaks to his abilities. With these changes, Galio will now be able to engage in fights longer and more effectively in melee range. This enhancement not only boosts his survivability but also allows him to play a more active role in team skirmishes and objectives. As always, we appreciate the feedback from our community, and these changes reflect our commitment to fostering an enjoyable and competitive environment. We’re excited for players to explore these updates and hope they lead to new strategies and memorable moments in the game. Remember, the essence of April Fools’ is to have fun, so we encourage everyone to embrace the whimsical spirit of this update while diving into the action! We look forward to seeing how these changes impact the meta and how players adapt their strategies accordingly. Stay tuned for more updates and keep sharing your thoughts with us—we love hearing from you!

Key Features of the Update

From time to time, we find it necessary to prioritize the stability and performance of our games over compatibility with older hardware or software that is used by a small fraction of our player base. This decision is never taken lightly, as we understand how important it is for all players to enjoy a smooth gaming experience. However, in order to ensure that League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics continue to evolve and improve, we must make certain sacrifices. In one of our upcoming updates, we will be discontinuing support for DirectX 9. This means that the option to select DirectX 9 manually will be removed from both League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics. When this change takes effect, the relevant option will be automatically disabled for all players. We recognize that some of you have been using DirectX 9 due to hardware limitations, and we strongly recommend that you consider upgrading your PC as soon as possible to ensure you can continue to enjoy the full experience of our games.

Currently, the discontinuation of DirectX 9 support is planned for update 14.9. If there are any changes to this timeline, we will make sure to communicate this in the release notes of an upcoming update. Transparency is important to us, and we want to keep you informed every step of the way. For those who may be unfamiliar with how to check your DirectX version or troubleshoot related issues, we have created a detailed article on our support website. This resource is designed to guide you through the process, making it easy for you to verify your current setup and address any concerns you may have.
